What time is Check In ?

Check in is available from 1400 (2pm) on day of arrival. An early check in can be organised prior to arrival, subject to availability. Additional fees may be applicable for this service.

What time is Check Out?

Guests are required to vacate guest rooms by 1030 am on day of departure. A late departure can be arranged (subject to availability).  Additional fees may be applicable for this service.

What are the hours of operation for the Hotel?

The hotel operates 24 hours a day with reception, Porterage services and room service available for all hotel guests.

What are the dress requirements for the hotel, restaurants and cafes?

All guests are required to ensure minimum dress standards are followed whilst staying on the property. Guests are encouraged to wear casual attire as a minimum including footwear.

What happens when I Check In?

When you arrive to check in you will need to provide photo ID. You will be requested to complete a Guest Registration Card with your postal address and signature. The Hotel Receptionist will request a credit card to cover any incidental charges and payment of the room. A pre-authorisation will be processed to confirm the card validation and availability of funds. The pre-authorisation may hold for up to 7 days. A cash deposit option is available for those guest not desiring to use their credit card or do not have access to a credit card. All guests are informed of the hotel No Smoking Policy, issued guest room keys and advised of hotel services and facilities. Assistance with luggage is available to all hotel guests.

Reservations and Payment

What payment options are available for hotel guests?

The hotel accepts Visa, MasterCard, Bankcard, Diners, American Express and JCB Credit Cards. Eftpos facilities are also available. No cheques are accepted under any circumstances. The hotel requires all guests to settle their guest room account including any incidental charges on departure. Please be advised that a surcharge of 1.5% is applicable for payments made via Visa Card & MasterCard and 3% for Diners Card, JCB Card & American Express cards.

When is payment processed?

Full Payment will be processed 48 hours prior to arrival on the credit card provided at time of booking for the total reservation value. Please note that any incidentals incurred during the guest stay will require payment on departure.

What are my options if I do not wish to use my credit card or do not have a credit card?

If you do not have a credit card or do not wish to use your credit card then you can select from our Cash deposit options depending on the services you wish to utilise and the amount you wish to deposit. Please note a minimum of a $300 cash deposit is required.


Do you offer interconnecting rooms?

Darwin Central Hotel has six interconnecting rooms, connecting a Studio room with a Twin Queen Room. If you require an interconnecting room, please request this during your reservation process. We will endeavour to accommodate your request however it is subject to availability. Please contact our reservations department on +61 (8) 8944 9000.

Do you provide rollaway beds?

On request we can provide up to one rollaway bed per guest room.  An extra person fee is applicable on request for a rollaway bed.  Please note that certain rooms are restricted to existing bedding only due to the fire safety policies.

How many people per room and is it any extra?

Rates quoted are for 2 adults per room per night. Maximum occupancy per room is 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 children. Please note that the 3rd adult is always considered an ‘extra person’ with room rates based on single, twin or double occupancy. The 3rd adult even if utilising existing bedding will always incur an extra person fee. We do not consider sofa beds as existing bedding and if a sofa bed is required then an extra person fee will apply. This should be noted for children as well (please refer to next question).

Do children stay free of charge?

Children are persons aged between 2-12 years old. Up to one child 12 years old or younger using existing bedding which does not include sofa beds or rollaway, when sharing a room with their parents is free of charge.  However if a sofa bed or rollaway is required then an extra person fee is applicable regardless if it is the 1st or 2nd child.


Where can I have breakfast?

Breakfast is available daily from 6:00am to 10:00am from the Waterhole Restaurant located on level one.

Is breakfast included in the room rate?

Breakfast is not included in the room rate unless you have purchased a bed and breakfast rate or a special package that includes breakfast.

Which restaurants can charge my purchase back to my room account?

Darwin Central Hotel features a range of cafés, restaurants and take away dining options. You can charge back to your room from the Waterhole Restaurant and Salvatores Café (conditions apply), with room service available from both outlets. Please refer to your in-room compendium for menus and more information.

Do you accommodate travel groups in your restaurant?

Can I make special arrangements for my dinner reservation (eg. Birthday, farewell)?

Do you provide Room Service?

Room Service is available 24 hours a day and provides a selection of meals from light snacks to main meals. For all menus please refer to your in-room compendium. To place an order contact Hotel Reception by dialling 9 to be transferred to the desired outlet.

Hotel Facilities

What medical assistance is available?

A First Aid qualified Manager is always available on property for all hotel guests. A First Aid Kit is located at Hotel Reception. Assistance and referrals can be provided for doctor or dental appointments.

Do you provide cots?

Cots are available at no extra charge for hotel guests. Cots are subject to availability.

Does the hotel have a pool?

The Hotel has a plunge pool that is located on Level 1. Pool towels are available in the pool area including a shower, toilet and change room for hotel guest use.

Does the hotel have a guest laundry?

The Hotel offers a coin operated guest laundry facilities and an ice machine for hotel guest use. Dry cleaning laundry services are available between Monday and Saturday. Your laundry will be returned on the same day by approx 6pm.

Does the hotel provide foreign exchange services?

The hotel offers a Foreign Exchange Service for hotel guests for all major currencies.

Can I store my luggage?

Luggage storage is available to all in-house guests on a same day basis. No luggage will be accepted for overnight storage.

Does the hotel provide safes for guest use?

Safety Deposit Boxes are located at Hotel Reception for Hotel Guest use. This is a complimentary service and is recommended for all valuables and money.

What car parking facilities are available?

The Hotel offers a Valet Car Parking service for all in-house guests. Charges do apply of $19.50 per night with limitations of one car per accommodation room. Valet Parking Service is limited and comes on a first serve basis until full. Street parking is available close by to the hotel for guests, visitors, conference attendees and patrons of retail outlets and restaurants. Please note the hotel is not liable for any damage or loss of belongings while using this service. A height limitation is applicable.

What internet options are available?

Wireless/Broadband Internet is available in every room at a cost of $11.00 for one hour, $24.95 for 24 hours and $66.00 per week. User is subject to terms & conditions when logging on.

How central is the Darwin Central Hotel? Can I walk to the Hotel from the city transit centre?

The hotel is in the centre of the CBD, it is a short walk from the Transit Station. From Mitchell St, walk to Knuckey Street and turn left. You will find us on the corner of Knuckey and Smith St with entrances from both. Turn down Shadforth Lane and come in to the main reception entrance.

How do I get to the hotel from the airport?

Darwin Airport it is approximately 12km from the hotel – roughly 15 minutes drive

What are the popular sight seeing attractions in Darwin?

Several wild life parks and nature reserves are just a short distance from Darwin. There are significant WWII sites, plenty of fishing opportunities and a number of sunset cruises on the harbour. During Darwin’s “dry season” (April – September) visit the famous Mindil Beach Sunset Markets held every Thursday and Sunday. In other months there are local markets every weekend. There are a number of art and cultural festivities throughout the year.

Further afield, visit Litchfield National Park and enjoy the swimming holes and waterfalls. Self drive or take one of many tours to Kakadu National Park, Nitmiluk (Katherine Gorge) and Arnhem Land.
